2020 Collings 01 12-String

An entirely appealing small-bodied 12-string model recently built by Collings Guitars, this 01 12-string features a 12 fret 0-size body of Mahogany and Sitka Spruce with sunburst finish and half-herringbone top trim. Tortoise bindings and pickguard, style 1 rosette, ebony fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, and slotted headstock with six-on-a-plate vintage style tuning machines.

The guitar is in immaculate condition and is set-up perfectly. The neck has a comfortably rounded carve with a 1-7/8” nut width and 24.9” scale.

With its small body, light construction and short scale, this Collings 12 string design finds some inspiration in the Oscar Schmidt / Stella models made in the 1920s, but unlike those early and iconic 12 strings, the Collings offers unrivalled playability and intonation, and can be tuned to standard concert pitch – which is how we have it set up. It’s a wonderful sounding guitar, with pretty overtones, ample warmth and richness, and more than enough volume across its register. It’s a fingerstyle 12 string but can certainly be strummed or flatpicked as well.
