The Atkin L36 pays homage to the L-00s built in Kalamazoo in the mid 1930s. The model offers much of the punchy, forward mid-range those vintage guitars are famous for and adds in some extra warmth in the bass along with a little extra overtone flower. Atkin finished this guitar with their take on “Argentine Grey” – a uniquely coloured sunburst that was used for a brief moment in 1930/1.
The L-36 features a L-00 shaped body constructed of mahogany and torrefied Sitka spruce. The top is supported by scalloped X bracing and is completed with a firestripe pickguard and small rectangle rosewood bridge. Vintage white body bindings, finely crazed lacquer finish with no mechanical aging, celluloid single ring rosette. The headstock is tastefully appointed with gold decal logo and banner, and three-on-a-plate Kluson-style tuners.
The neck has a round carve with a 1950s feel. The combination of a 1-11/16” nut width and a 2-1/4” string spread at the saddle offers comfort and fingerstyle ease, and the 24.9” scale adds to the guitar’s can-play-it-for-hours feel. Neck depth at the 1st fret is .855”.
With deluxe hardshell case.
Individual instruments may vary slightly in appearance.
