Larrivée L25 12 String

A beautiful Victoria-label Larrivée 12 string, with intricate inlay work by Wendy Larrivée and pearl-bordered top. Style 25 instruments are quite rare as Larrivée was always more interested in production than labour-intensive one-off guitars.

This 12 string is built with master-grade Sitka spruce and Indian rosewood, and features a mosaic rosette and intricate purflings. The ebony fingerboard is bound with ivoroid, and the body features rosewood bindings. The guitar is in immaculate condition and shows almost no playwear. Larrivée’s shop was located in Victoria from 1977 through 1982, although their Victoria labels were used until the early 1990s; it’s surprising to imagine that this guitar is at least 30 years old.

The current set up is quite low, measuring 4-5 64ths at the 12th fret. The guitar plays so easily we’ve left the action at this height despite the saddle being at its lowest adjustment. We can raise the action upon the request of a harder-hitting player. Scale length is 25.6”, the nut measures 1-7/8”. There’s an older passive contact transducer pickup installed.

A lovely sounding 12 string that responds nicely to a light attack, it has a full voice with a warm low end and pretty jangle up top.
