1929 Gibson Nick Lucas Special
The guitar is in fine playing order, but has had repair-work through the years. There are a number repaired top and back cracks, a repaired heel crack, a plugged jack-hole in the treble side, tailpiece screw holes, a nicely installed replacement bridgeplate and good looking reproduction bridge. The binding is pulling away slightly in the back treble side waist, and about half of the label has crumbled away, including the serial number line. The finish is original throughout, with localized touch-up on the neck heel and center-seam repair above the bridge. The bridge and bridgeplate were made and installed by us. Original frets play well up the neck, original banjo tuners hold their pitch fine, set up is to our shop standard. Round neck with 1-3/4" nut-width, short 24.2" scale length. Included in the case is a pair of vintage Nick Lucas scores.
Despite the list of repairs the guitar has seen, it's structurally up to task and just a beautiful sounding instrument. It's feathery-light, responsive, and very alive. An excellent choice for someone looking for the unique sound and size of a small-body Nick Lucas model, without the pricing these guitars are normally associated with.
One of our current shop favourites.
