1946 Gibson LG-2
The guitar has some top crack repairs that were all done here at Folkway in the early 2000s and are still holding strong. The one-piece mahogany back and sides are crack-free, the finish is original throughout, the neck has never been reset, the bridge is full-thickness and the original saddle is nearly full height. Original frets play well, having recently been dressed, and the original nut has never been off. Original Kluson tuners with replaced Antique Acoustic buttons, newer Antique Acoustic bridge pins. An endpin jack was removed and the hole has been nicely plugged with matching mahogany.
Sitka spruce top with scalloped braces, original maple bridgeplate with small ‘helper’ cap added. Various brace-ends have been reglued, and there are various cleats added to support the top’s repaired cracks.
The guitar has seen its fair share of life outside of a case, so please have a good look at the photos provided here to get a feel for the playwear, dings, chips, and dents.
1-3/4” nutwidth, 24.75” scale, action of 5-7 64ths with 12-53 strings.
