1956 National 1150

Serial # X70579. Proving, again, that some of the coolest vintage acoustics still are moderately priced is this stylish mid 50's National 1150. This one is a small ladder-braced jumbo flat-top measuring 15.5" at the lower bout, and has that lo-fi meaty midrange that bigger ladder-braced guitars often develop. Kay-built body with solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Bolt-on mahogany neck with 24.5" scale Brazilian rosewood fretboard; matching bridge. Frets and are excellent, as is the overall condition, minus some pickwear on the top and finish damage by the endpin. We've reglued the guitar's top center-seam and patched the spruce bridgeplate with a thin maple veneer; it's been set up and plays very nicely. The original Kluson tuners work well, too. Narrow and round neck feels great -- kind of like a 50's Gibson neck but with a 1-9/16" nut width. Original but for new bridge-pins, and crack-free.
