1957 Fender Stratocaster
Previously refurbished by its original owner, the guitar’s alder body has received an attractive nitrocellulose refinish that shows only very minor player wear. The neck has been partially refinished and partially oversprayed, as well. Fortunately, the original headstock decal, April 1957 neck heel date, and tremolo cavity date were all preserved and remain visible under the new finish. The guitar remains largely original where it counts most. The trio of "black bottom" pickups are original to the instrument, or at the very least period-correct, and appear never to have been modified or rewound. They deliver a quintessential array of rich, dynamic Strat tones: a full-bodied bridge pickup, a warm and airy middle, and a neck position with defined single-note response. While the guitar is currently fitted with a 5-way switch for easier access to those classic in-phase 2 and 4 positions, the original 3-way switch is included in the case. The electronics are rounded out by 1959-dated pots, replacement jack, and a remarkably well-executed reproduction pickguard. Original hardware includes the tuners, neck plate, and bridge assembly, though the saddle height screws have been replaced for better functionality.
The playability of this Stratocaster is excellent. The neck features a classic '57 carve that feels substantial in the hand. It has just received a professional refret by the Folkway repair team using vintage sized wire and is set up with 10s and fast action. At just under 7lbs, it is a lightweight, resonant, and exceptionally soulful vintage Fender.
25.5” scale, 1.5/8” nut, 854" at the 1st fret / .969" at the 12th fret, Neck: 5.54k / Middle: 6.07k / Bridge: 6.11k, 6lbs 14oz.
With modern hardshell case and original 3-way switch and jack included in the case pocket.
