1957 Fender Stratocaster
A wonderful example of a 1957 Stratocaster, this well played Fender is largely original and has aged beautifully over its 70 years. The guitar's finish is completely original and shows some undeniably good looking playwear. The body bears the scars of countless hours of use with chips and dents throughout, and some buckle rash on its back. The neck's finish is heavily worn along the bass and treble shoulders, giving it an amazing worn-in feel. The guitar is original apart from new frets. The trio of original pickups weren’t working when the guitar arrived at our shop, and have since been accurately rewound by Tom Brantley. There are extra holes in the pickguard from the guitar’s owner screwing it down. The wiring harness, plastics, and hardware, including a repaired G tuning machine, are original to the guitar.
As one would expect of a maple neck Stratocaster from Fender's golden era, this 1957 example is an exceptional instrument. The three original rewound pickups offer an array of excellent Strat tones. Expect full-bodied tone with a satisfying single note snap in the bridge position, a balanced response with plenty of thick upper-midrange support in the middle, and a powerful, warm voice with great sustain in the neck position that lends itself beautifully to lead lines. The rounded soft-v neck profile is nothing short of heavenly, and the guitar plays beautifully with modern frets and a fresh set up.
Scale length of 25.5", nut width of 1-5/8", 1st fret depth of 0.865", and 12th fret depth of 0.979". Pickup DC values of 5.7K in the neck, 5.5 k in the middle, and 5.4k in the bridge. Weight of 7lbs 5oz.
With original hardshell case and strap.
