1957 Gretsch 6187 Corvette

The Gretsch 6187 Corvette is a 16” fully hollow electric archtop with a DeArmond Dyansonic in the bridge, and a fabulously cool paint job. Think of it akin to a Gibson ES-125, but infinitely cooler and quite a bit more rare.

This example is in great shape and plays very well. The ivory and grey mist finish are gorgeous, and the matching pickguard ices the case. Completely original but for one of the tuner grommets. There are a few small sections of binding rot, and the bridge base has been glued to the top (in the right place, thankfully), but there are otherwise not many faults to find with this one. The original frets don’t show much playwear, and the setup has been taken care of in our shop.

The Dyansonic pickup reads a healthy 9.2 KOhm, and is wired into a rather strange factory original stacked-pot tone circuit which affords the best sounds at about ½ way around the dial. It would be easy to modify the circuitry to a ‘normal’ ES-125 style volume/tone layout to enjoy everything this amazing pickup has to offer. We’ll leave that to the buyer.

24.75” scale neck, 1-5/8 nut. D to C neck carve with a comfortable feel. Gorgeous fretboard.
