1967 Gretsch Songbird 711

Serial #17618. Built in small numbers for the Sam Goody chain of guitar stores in 1967, the 711 Songbird 711, or model 6106, was essentially a Rally with cool G-holes and a different name. I can't tell you what the 711 moniker is all about, but the guitar is pretty cool!

Fully hollow thin body archtop, 16" wide, with Hi-Lo'trons, bigsby, and sunburst finish. Thumbprints and dots on the rosewood fingerboard, nickel hardware, and white binding. Round neck with 1-11/16" nut, 24.5" scale.

The guitar is pretty much all original but for changed tuners, one bridge pickup pole piece, and a 1" piece of spliced-in fingerboard binding (that's nicely done). There's a fair degree of the binding 'rot' that is typical of Gretschs from the late 1960's, but it's all still intact. Original frets are showing their age but still in play well enough, and the instrument has been set up in our shop.

It's a great looking guitar, with killer tone and a super-feeling Bigsby.
