1968 Gibson EB-2D

The cherry-finished Gibson EB-2D was a short-lived iteration of the company’s original ES-335 style electric bass, built with two pickups, baritone switch, cherry finish, and a dot-inlaid fretboard.

This one-owner example is completely original but for replaced pickup covers, which were changed out in the early 70s for cosmetic reasons (The embossed ‘Gibson’ logo looked cool). Finish and frets show below average playwear, set up is excellent, neck feel is comfortable, and the instrument has some really good looks.

The pickups measure 8.3k and 7.6k. The neck measures 1-15/32” at the nut and is .823 deep at the 1st fret, tapering to a depth of 1.002” at the 12th fret. It weighs 8.75 lbs.

A great sounding instrument with that super-fat baritone setting that made these famous.
