1981 Oskar Graf Steel String
European spruce and Indian rosewood body with a light and responsive build, solid linings, and Graf’s now-famous bridge-plate integrated bracing. Finely mitreed purflings throughout the instrument, and an intricately detailed traditional rosette are suggestive of Graf’s traditional classical-guitar roots. The neck is built with a longish 25.6” scale and features a nut width of 1-13/16”. The strings spread to 2-3/16” at the bridge. Slotted headstock fitted with Schaller tuners and a hand-fluted bone nut. 20” radius fingerboard. Gloss lacquer finish throughout, clear pickguard.
In largely excellent condition, the guitar’s only crack is along the treble-edge of the fingerboard extension. It has been solidly and effectively repaired in our shop. The string action is set for fingerstyle at 4-6 64ths, with only a very little bit of saddle above the bridge. The setup and fretwork is excellent, and the guitar plays easily and cleanly.
