Northwood 00-12 Custom

Northwood guitars are built in the southern interior of British Columbia by John McQuarrie, a luthier who got his start working for Larrivée guitars in the late 1980s and early 1990s. McQuarrie’s workmanship is top-tier, and his skills are well matched to the woods used in this 00-sized 12-fret.

The guitar features back and sides of deeply quilted maple matched with an Englemann spruce top. Pale abalone pearl borders the top and soundhole, while rosewood bindings and 5-layer purflings add a tasteful highlight. The guitar is finished in a light cremona sunburst that really accents the quilt figure and pearl border. It’s a winning combination.

The mahogany neck has a remarkably comfortable low C carve with a 1-13/16” nut width, 24.75” scale, and 2-5/16” string spread at the bridge. Ebony fingerboard and pyramid bridge, bone nut and saddle, engraved tuning machines with ebony buttons.

A lovely sounding small body 12 fret that offers a dry, open voice, strong fundamental, and excellent balance.

In near-new condition and perfectly set up for fingerstyle playing. String action of 4-5.5 64ths at the 12th fret.
