1962 Gibson Melody Maker D

Serial # 46358. The Melody Maker is still one of the most under-valuedinstruments Gibson built in the 1960's. These guitars, with their mahoganybodies, set necks, and wrap around bridges have a lot in common with theSpecials and Juniors built a few years earlier - except no one too famousplayed one, so they've lived a life of quiet servitude and under-appreciation.The Melody maker pickups sound good - sort of a cross betweena Strat pickup and a P-90, and compliment the light weight body well. Thesedays, though, we're seeing more and more Melody Makers with replacementP-90s as they convert very easily. This instrument is in great originalcondition with the exception of a very well repaired headstock crack.Playability is great, with a good neck and quality frets. When this guitarwas built, Gibson hadn't yet switched to the smaller neck profile of thelater 1960's, so many of you will love the way this one feels. Brazilianrosewood fingerboard with a 1-11/16" nut.
On Consignment with original soft shell case.
