2003 Martin D-28CW

Serial # 1099111, #388. The D-28CW is Martin's hat-nod to the most famous D-28 that ever came out of Nazareth -- Clarence White's / Tony Rice's 1935. The model features an Adirondack spruce top with forward positioned Adirondack scalloped braces, an enlarged soundhole with a diameter of 4-7/16", "Dalmatian" pickguard, and dotless bound fingerboard that overhangs the soundhole. The inside label is signed by CF Martin IV and White's daughter, Michelle Bledsoe. The neck has a width of 1-11/16" at the nut, old-style logo, and a gloss-finished headstock face. It's classy and well-executed guitar, and one of the company's most successful signature models. The guitar's standard nut width and scale length differ from the White/Rice D-28, but the effect is achieved, and the guitar sounds pretty darn good. And as most of us will never have a chance to strum a G on that particular guitar, we would likely be more than content with this one!
In just about mint condition, the guitar shines like a new instrument. It's had some seven years to mature and open up, which it has done quite well, and its a dream of a D-28. Very nicely set up with 5 to 6 64ths action, and fitted with aftermarket bone bridge pins.

With original Gieb-style hardshell case
