Larrivee F-33 Mandolin

For 2009 Larrivée has delivered on its long time promise of entering the mandolin market; and they've done so quite brilliantly with the introduction of their A and F 33 models. Using master-grade tonewoods, rubbed varnish finishes, traditional design elements and modern touches, Jean Larrivée has created instruments that are a cut above what's available in the mid-priced mandolin market. Quarter-sawn Sitka spruce tops and flamey hard maple back, sides, and neck are meticulously carved and then traditionally water-stained to beautifully highlight the figure and ray-flower of the tonewood. Larrivée spent the better part of three years experimenting with finishes and came full circle to settle on an ultra-thin traditional varnish to maximize tone; it just so happens that it looks beautiful too! The gold-plated cast tailpiece and tuning machines were custom designed to Jean Larrivée's specifications. Attractive grained ivoroid bindings, pearl headstock inlay complete the instrument tastefully, while an ebony radiused fingerboard and a perfectly fit Loar-style adjustable bridge provide comfortable playing and ensure excellent tone. Soft V neck profile, with a nutwidth of just about 1-1/8".
